defining a brand

When I was hired at IGNITE, the organization underwent a re-branding from its former name, Humber Students' Federation. As students were often confused about how much control Humber College had over the organization, the goal of the rebrand was to make it clear that IGNITE is largely independent from Humber College, and focused on student services and engagement. As the first videographer to work under the new name and brand, I was given the freedom to help shape the voice of IGNITE by producing video content aimed at engaging with Humber students on a more personal level.

This project was an early success for me at IGNITE; while 360 video is not an entirely new phenomenon or a wildly popular one, it was a fun way to differentiate the event coverage from the previous years, and I believe I made a good impression by suggesting it in our content strategy meetings early on after being hired at IGNITE. The 360 Ricoh Theta camera I ended up using was not as robust as some more expensive options, but it did have a lot of convenient features that made the 360 stitching process go much smoother. The end product was quite popular on IGNITE's Facebook platform.
